Kalinga Lancers crowned Hockey India League champions

Bhubaneswar-based Odisha franchise Kalinga Lancers won their maiden title in Hockey India League when they trounced Dabang Mumbai 4-1 in the final at Chandigarh Hockey Stadium in Chandigarh today.

Leading from the from, Lancers’ German captain Moritz Fuerste capped the victory, converting two penalty corners in the 30th and 59th minutes after Aussie forward Glenn Turner drew first blood with a goal in the 18th minute. Dabang Mumbai, who earlier topped the league table with 35 points, seven ahead of second-placed Kalinga Lancers, pulled one back through Affan Yousuf in the 33rd minute.
